Who is she?šŸ¤ØšŸ¤”Prince William will have a new reliable assistant.

In recent years, Prince William’s cousin, Lady Louise, has been a rare public figure, as she’s focused on her university studies in Scotland. However, there’s speculation that she might one day step in to support her cousin. Lady Louise and her brother, James, Earl of Wessex, were raised by Prince Edward and Sophie, Countess of Wessex, with the expectation that they would pursue careers outside of the royal spotlight. But according to former BBC royal commentator Jenny Bond, even if Lady Louise doesn’t officially become a working royal, she could still be called upon to play a significant role.

“Edward and Sophie really want Louise and James to choose their own career paths. Sophie has said she raised them with the expectation that they would need to support themselves and build their own careers,” Jenny explained. She added that if Prince William ever needs extra hands in the future, Louise and James would be ready to assist.

Currently, there are eleven working members of the royal family who carry out official duties, including King Charles and Queen Camilla. However, this number may decrease as more members could decide to step back from their royal roles. Prince William, when he becomes king, may rely on close family members to assist where possible without burdening them with the pressures and responsibilities of royal life.

If Prince William calls on Lady Louise for help, it wouldn’t be the first time non-working royals have stepped in to support the monarchy. Princess Beatrice represented King Charles at a textiles exhibition for the Royal Foundation in November 2024, and last May, Princess Eugenie, Zara Tindall, and Beatrice supported Prince William at a Buckingham Palace garden party.

Prince William has shown support for his cousins who don’t hold official royal positions but still help him and the monarchy when needed. Though 21-year-old Lady Louise may not be called upon for royal duties anytime soon, Jenny believes that at some point, we could see her more publicly involved alongside her personal career.

Prince William wants to put a smaller 'r' in royal. Here's what that means.

Recently, photos surfaced of the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh’s daughter at the Army Cadet Corps at St Andrews University, where she is studying. Royal expert Jenny suggests that Louise might even be tempted to pursue a military career. “Lady Louise has shown an early interest in military training during her university years, and in the photos, she’s fully immersed in her training, even masking her face and proudly wearing combat gear,” she said.

ā€œIt’s said that she’s thoroughly enjoyed her training as an officer cadet and is determined to turn it into a full career,” the expert added. Whatever career Lady Louise pursues, she is likely to continue remaining relatively out of the royal public eye.
