Selena Gomez opened up about a deeply personal and painful truth: she cannot carry her own children.

In a heartfelt interview, the 32-year-old singer revealed that although she has always dreamed of having a family, health complications make pregnancy too dangerous for both her and a baby.

“I don’t think I’ve ever admitted this before, but sadly, I won’t be able to carry my own children,” Gomez confessed. “My medical conditions put both my life and a child’s life at risk. I had to mourn that loss for a while.”

Despite the heartbreak, she has embraced other paths to motherhood. Grateful for alternatives like surrogacy and adoption, Selena described them as blessings: “I’m so thankful there are people willing to be surrogates, and adoption is a beautiful option too. These are things I’m seriously considering. Whatever way it happens, that child will be mine, and I will love and care for them completely.”

Gomez has been candid about her ongoing health struggles—diagnosed with lupus in 2013, receiving a kidney transplant in 2017, and revealing her bipolar disorder in 2018. These challenges have shaped her outlook on life, family, and resilience.

Her journey to motherhood is also intertwined with her relationship with music producer Benny Blanco. While the couple went public over a year ago, Selena admitted she had long been thinking about starting a family, even during her five years of being single. Blanco himself shared earlier this year that having children was his “next goal,” a comment that left Selena laughing with affection.

Reflecting on their love, she said, “I’ve never experienced this kind of love before. He’s a true source of light in my life. He’s not just my partner—he’s my best friend.”

Ultimately, Selena’s openness highlights not just her struggles but her strength. Despite criticism and challenges, she continues to embrace her body, her health journey, and the hope of building a family—just in a different way than she once imagined.
