Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner File Defamation Lawsuit Against Ray J Over Racketeering Remarks

Kim Kardashian and her mother Kris Jenner are taking legal action against Ray J, accusing him of defamation after he suggested they could face a federal racketeering investigation.

The lawsuit, filed Wednesday, stems from comments Ray J — real name William Ray Norwood Jr. — made during media appearances earlier this year. In a May TMZ special, he remarked that he wouldn’t be surprised if the Kardashians were charged with racketeering. He later repeated and escalated those claims in a Twitch livestream on Sept. 24, alleging that “the feds are coming to investigate” Kardashian and Jenner. He even declared that he planned to “drop” a federal RICO case against them, comparing the situation to Sean “Diddy” Combs’ ongoing legal troubles.

Their attorney, Alex Spiro, stated, “Kris Jenner and Kim Kardashian have never brought a defamation claim before, nor have they been distracted by noise — but this false and serious allegation left no choice.”

According to the complaint, Jenner and Kardashian accuse Ray J of launching a “sustained campaign of harassment and defamation,” rooted in his inability to move on from his past relationship with Kardashian (2002–2006). They argue he continues to exploit their names to gain attention.

The lawsuit emphasizes that no racketeering investigation exists and no law enforcement agency has ever initiated such proceedings against them. The reality stars claim Ray J’s comments were presented as factual statements, not opinions, and lacked any basis or verification.

They further argue his accusations demonstrate “reckless disregard for the truth” and a “willful intent to damage” their reputations.

According to TMZ, Kardashian and Jenner are seeking both compensatory and punitive damages in the case.
