“We love each other very much and will continue to focus on raising our son,” Schumer wrote in an Instagram caption
Amy Schumer and her husband, Chris Fischer, have decided to end their marriage after more than seven years together.
The 44-year-old comedian shared the news on Instagram on Friday, Dec. 12, posting a photo of herself, Fischer, 45, and their son Gene on a New York City subway.
“Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after seven years,” Schumer wrote. “We love each other very much and will continue to focus on raising our son. We ask for privacy during this time. Amicable, with all love and respect — family forever.”

A source close to the couple told PEOPLE, “There’s nothing ugly about it. It’s a cohesive split. They’ve simply been finalizing a few things.”
The couple, who began dating in 2017, married in February 2018 and welcomed their son Gene in May 2019.
Speculation about their relationship had surfaced in recent weeks, though a source told PEOPLE on Nov. 13 that the two were “privately working through normal issues that couples in long-term marriages face” and remained committed.

Earlier, Schumer had addressed rumors on Instagram, emphasizing that her personal health journey and weight loss had nothing to do with her marriage, and sharing appreciation for her husband: “Fingers crossed we make it through. He’s the best.”
In early November, Schumer also removed all previous photos from her Instagram, including images with Fischer, captioning a new post: “I actually left my house tonight. Who’s proud? I’m feeling good and happy. Deleted my old pics for no reason!”
