Julio Iglesias is a legend in the world of music, having broken numerous records and being loved worldwide. He has retired from performing, leading a solitary life, and is writing a biography.

No longer gives concerts
In 1976, Iglesias became the first artist in Spain to perform 41 concerts in 41 different cities in just 30 days. In 2013, he became the most commercially successful Spanish-language artist of all time, selling over 300 million records. Unfortunately, however, since 2018, the singer has ceased performing concerts and expanding his discography.

Appreciates solitude
Rumors circulate in the media from time to time that the singer is in poor health. However, this summer, his son, Julio Iglesias Jr., denied this. He noted that his father leads a quiet and secluded life in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Julio Iglesias Jr. describes his father as a man who values his solitude and enjoys time for reflection and creative exploration.

I decided to write my own biography.
Julio Iglesias was dissatisfied with Hans Laguna’s 2022 biography of his life, which he described as a nonsense, based on anecdotes and books of dubious quality. So he decided to write his own book, which would highlight the most significant events of his personal and professional life.
I’m finally starting to write my memoirs. I really want these memories to make you laugh and cry, because those two emotions combined are truly what life is all about.
Loves grandchildren
The singer’s family expanded, as did his fame. Julio had eight children and five grandchildren. From his first marriage to Spanish-Filipino journalist Isabel Preysler (1971-1979), the musician has three children: daughter Maria Isabel and sons Julio Iglesias Jr. and the famous Enrique.
He also has five children with the Dutch-born former model Miranda Reinsburger. Miranda and Julio have three sons—Miguel Alejandro, Rodrigo, and Guillermo—and two twin daughters—Victoria and Cristina. Julio has admitted he wasn’t the best father to his older children, but he says he made up for it with his other children.
Enrique Iglesias said he had a difficult relationship with his father, not speaking to him for ten years until he had children. Apparently, their relationship improved then, and Julio stated about Enrique and Anna Kournikova’s twins that he sees many similarities between his offspring. “I see a lot of myself reflected in Enrique, and Enrique is the father of his children, my grandchildren. In my granddaughter, I see a lot of Iglesias, and in Nicolás, I see more of the Russian side. Everything is hereditary; genetics is magical,” the artist shared with Televisa Espectáculos.

Did not acknowledge paternity
Another man in Julio’s life has been seeking recognition of his paternity and financial compensation since the 1990s: Javier Sánchez Santos. Santos claims he was conceived during an alleged affair with Iglesias in the Catalonia region in July 1975.
The singer denies these claims and refuses to take a paternity test. In 2019, a Valencia court recognized Julio Iglesias as Javier Sánchez’s biological father. In delivering his verdict, the judge stated that his decision was made in part due to the resemblance between Javier and the singer’s son, Julio Iglesias Jr. However, just a year later, the court’s decision was overturned.
