Daniel Radcliffe has offered a heartfelt — and unusually personal — look at life as a dad, describing his young son as “incredibly sweet.”
The 36-year-old actor has been in a relationship with American actress Erin Darke since 2012. The couple welcomed their first child, a baby boy, in April 2023 and have chosen to keep him largely out of the public eye.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, the former Harry Potter film series star spoke candidly about how fatherhood has changed him.
“I’m an emotional wreck, in the best way,” he admitted, revealing that he finds himself tearing up far more often. Watching his son experience pure joy, he said, has been transformative. He even shared that seeing the little one laugh so freely has brought him to tears — something he’d never experienced before.
Radcliffe and Darke first crossed paths while filming the 2013 biographical drama Kill Your Darlings, where they portrayed a couple. The actor has previously said he felt an immediate spark when they met, joking that their on-screen romance will make for quite a story to tell their children one day.
In 2024, Radcliffe celebrated another milestone when he won his first Tony Award for Best Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical for Merrily We Roll Along. During his emotional acceptance speech, he paid tribute to Erin and their son, calling them the best things that have ever happened to him.
