Mimi Rogers, the first wife of Tom Cruise, was recently spotted in Los Angeles, looking elegant and radiant at the age of 70 during a rare public appearance.

Rogers was married to Cruise from 1987 to 1990, and during their relationship she reportedly introduced him to Scientology. The actress had grown up within the religion herself—her father was an early member and a friend of its founder, L. Ron Hubbard. However, Rogers eventually distanced herself from the church later in life.

Following her divorce from Cruise, who is six years younger than her, Rogers made headlines with a candid interview in which she spoke openly about their relationship. In a conversation with Playboy, the actress claimed that Cruise had once seriously considered becoming a monk. According to her, he believed he might need to remain celibate to preserve what he described as the “purity of his instrument,” suggesting that such a path would make marriage difficult.

Decades later, Rogers still appears striking. During her recent outing in sunny California, the actress showed off her slim silhouette in a flowing printed blouse paired with crisp white trousers. She wore her dark hair loose and enhanced her features with subtle makeup, completing the look with oversized sunglasses.

Throughout her career, Rogers has appeared in a number of notable films. In the 1996 romantic drama The Mirror Has Two Faces, directed by and starring Barbra Streisand, she played the sister of Streisand’s character. The cast also included legendary actress Lauren Bacall as their mother and Pierce Brosnan as her on-screen husband.

She also appeared opposite Michael Keaton in the 1986 comedy Gung Ho and later shared the screen with Mickey Rourke and Anthony Hopkins in the thriller Desperate Hours.

Rogers first met Cruise in 1985 when he was 23 and she was 29. The couple quietly married in 1987 in a small ceremony attended by only two guests: Cruise’s mother, Mary Lee Pfeiffer, and his best man, actor Emilio Estevez. Their marriage ended in 1989 shortly before Cruise began filming Days of Thunder, where he later began a relationship with co-star Nicole Kidman, who became his next wife.

After the divorce, Rogers reportedly left Scientology along with her father, who was later labeled a “suppressive person” by the organization.

In her personal life, Rogers eventually found lasting happiness with producer Chris Ciaffa. The two met in 1990 and officially married in 2003 at a courthouse in Beverly Hills. By that time they were already parents to two children, Lucy and Charlie.

In recent years, viewers have seen Rogers appear in the Amazon crime dramas Bosch and Bosch: Legacy, which star Titus Welliver. Alongside acting, she has also explored side ventures such as recording personalized video messages for fans and even selling hay produced on her own property at local county fairs.
