Rogers was married to Cruise from 1987 to 1990, and during their relationship she reportedly introduced him to Scientology. The actress had grown up within the religion herself—her father was an early member and a friend of its founder, L. Ron Hubbard. However, Rogers eventually distanced herself from the church later in life.
Following her divorce from Cruise, who is six years younger than her, Rogers made headlines with a candid interview in which she spoke openly about their relationship. In a conversation with Playboy, the actress claimed that Cruise had once seriously considered becoming a monk.
