Questions about whether Cher has secretly tied the knot surfaced after the 79-year-old singer appeared to be wearing prominent diamond jewelry at her son’s wedding. The legendary performer arrived at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel on Sunday to celebrate the marriage of her son, Chaz Bono, but the dazzling rings on her left hand quickly drew attention. Observers noticed what looked like a large diamond ring — estimated at around five carats — along with a thick diamond band, sparking speculation about her relationship status.

The pop icon, born Cherilyn Sarkisian, has been in an on-again, off-again relationship with music executive Alexander ‘A.E.’ Edwards since 2022. Edwards, who works with Sony Music Publishing, is 39 years old — four decades younger than Cher. If the pair were married, Cher would become stepmother to Edwards’ six-year-old son Slash, whom he shares with model Amber Rose. Rose and Edwards were together for three years before ending their relationship in 2021. Cher’s representative has declined to comment on whether the singer has married or become engaged.
Despite the glamorous occasion, Cher kept her outfit relatively relaxed when she arrived at the historic venue. She stepped out of a large black SUV carrying a sparkling black handbag and wore a black hoodie decorated with star patterns over a pink top. Her look was completed with glittering black cargo pants and coordinating shoes.

The singer appeared fully styled for the celebration, with carefully contoured makeup and her signature dark hair worn long and parted in the middle. She also seemed to accessorize with body jewelry, including a diamond chain that wrapped around her neck and extended downward.
The celebration itself marked a meaningful moment for Cher as her 57-year-old son Chaz Bono — who is transgender — married his longtime partner, fiancée Shara Blue Mathes, after nearly a decade together. The couple exchanged vows beneath an altar decorated with red roses in one of the hotel’s elegant ballrooms.
Chaz Bono’s late father, Sonny Bono, died in 1998 at age 62 after a tragic skiing accident in which he collided with a tree. Cher and Sonny, once the famous duo Sonny & Cher, divorced in 1975 following eight years of marriage and a three-year separation. Their split came amid accusations of infidelity and controlling behavior.

Cher later married Gregg Allman, the singer from The Allman Brothers Band, but that marriage ended in 1979 after three years due to his struggles with alcohol and heroin addiction.
The singer has also faced family difficulties involving her son Elijah Blue Allman. The 49-year-old was arrested at a New Hampshire preparatory school on February 27 and charged with two counts of simple assault, along with criminal trespass, criminal threatening, and disorderly conduct. Cher previously attempted to place Elijah under a conservatorship in 2023, but the request was rejected by a judge in 2024 after he stated that he was sober, financially responsible, and capable of managing the funds from his father’s estate.

Meanwhile, Cher continues to focus on her career and legacy. The second installment of her autobiography, Cher: The Memoir, Part Two, is scheduled for publication by William Morrow on November 17. The 480-page book will continue the story of the singer’s life and career.
Often describing herself as a “lazy Buddhist,” Cher remains one of the most successful artists in music history. She attracts around 12.9 million monthly listeners on Spotify and has sold more than 100 million records as a solo artist, along with an additional 40 million albums during her time performing with Sonny & Cher.
