The 58-year-old actress discussed her plans during an appearance on the Las Culturistas podcast on Friday, sharing that she will attend the star-studded event with her daughter, 17-year-old Sunday Rose.
Kidman and Urban ended their 19-year marriage last year, with news of their separation emerging in September and their divorce officially finalized in January.
Speaking about the upcoming fashion event, the Oscar winner revealed she was thrilled to bring her daughter along for the occasion.
“This will be my third time co-chairing, and I’m so happy,” Kidman said, adding that Sunday Rose will be her guest for the evening. “My daughter Sunday will be coming.”
The actress proudly explained that the teenager has developed a strong passion for fashion and is already making a name for herself in the industry.
“She loves fashion,” Kidman said enthusiastically, noting that Sunday had recently walked in a show for Dior and had just flown back from Paris.
Kidman shares Sunday Rose and her younger daughter Faith Margaret, 15, with Urban. She is also mother to Bella, 33, and Connor, 31, whom she adopted during her previous marriage to Tom Cruise.
Sunday Rose has already stepped into the fashion spotlight, appearing on runways for major labels such as Dior, Miu Miu and Calvin Klein.
In a recent interview with Elle Australia, the young model described her mother as her greatest inspiration. She explained that growing up around creative parents encouraged her to pursue her own ambitions in the entertainment and fashion worlds.
Sunday also shared that Kidman has always supported her goals and offered practical advice about the industry — including something as simple as always being punctual.
Kidman herself is a familiar face at the Met Gala, the high-profile fashion fundraiser held every first Monday in May in New York City. For the 2026 event, she will serve as one of the co-chairs alongside Beyoncé and Venus Williams.
This year’s theme is “Costume Art,” with a dress code titled “Fashion Is Art.”
The actress attended last year’s gala solo in a strapless black gown, although in previous years she often walked the red carpet with Urban. The former couple notably posed together at the event in 2024 and showed affectionate moments on the carpet in earlier appearances.
Kidman has also attended the gala several times throughout her career, including appearances in 2003 and 2005 when she previously served as a co-chair.
Following the end of her marriage, the actress recently spoke about how she is focusing on family and moving forward.
In an interview with Variety, Kidman said she remains grateful for her loved ones and continues to view her family as her greatest priority.
“What I’m grateful for is my family, and keeping them as is, and moving forward,” she explained.
The actress also said she is embracing a new chapter in life after a quieter year.
“Last year I was quiet and in my shell,” she admitted. “Now I’m in a place of saying, ‘2026 — here we go.’”
Kidman is currently starring in the Amazon Prime Video series Scarpetta, which premiered on March 11. The thriller features a star-studded cast including Jamie Lee Curtis, Bobby Cannavale, Simon Baker and Ariana DeBose, and follows a brilliant forensic pathologist who uses advanced technology to solve complex crimes.
