Becoming a teen idol is one thing — but becoming one with a signature catchphrase is something else entirely, and Joey Lawrence did just that. He rose to fame as Joey Russo on Blossom (1990–1995), playing the lovable but not-so-bright brother to Mayim Bialik’s character. His iconic “Whoa!” and boy-next-door charm made him a fan favorite, while his music career also took off, with his 1993 hit “Nothin’ My Love Can’t Fix” reaching the Billboard Top 10.

Now 46, Lawrence is still active in both acting and music. He comes from a family of performers — his younger brothers, Matthew Lawrence and Andrew Lawrence, are also actors, and the trio famously starred together in Brotherly Love. They’ve continued to collaborate over the years, even appearing together in more recent projects.
Lawrence has maintained a steady acting career since his early fame, appearing in series like CSI: NY, American Dreams, and Run of the House. From 2010 to 2015, he co-starred with Melissa Joan Hart in Melissa & Joey, and has also made appearances as himself in shows like Dollface and Call Me Kat, reuniting with Bialik. With multiple upcoming projects in the works, he shows no signs of slowing down.

Music has remained a constant passion as well. Although he hasn’t released a full album since Soulmates in 1997, he has continued putting out new material, including a five-track EP titled Guilty in 2022. Lawrence has said that music was actually his first love, inspired by watching variety shows as a young child.

Off-screen, Lawrence is a dedicated father of two daughters from his previous marriage to Chandie Yawn-Nelson. He has spoken openly about the importance of positive co-parenting, emphasizing kindness and putting his children first despite personal differences.

Today, he’s engaged to actress Samantha Cope, and the two have expressed excitement about their future together. At 46, Joey Lawrence has successfully evolved beyond his teen idol days — balancing family life, acting, and music while still holding onto the charm that made him famous.
