Actor Adrian Grenier Reveals Why He Quit Hollywood for Good

Adrian Grenier, once a Hollywood heartthrob known for his roles in Entourage, The Devil Wears Prada, and the ’90s teen film Drive Me Crazy, has walked away from the spotlight. After two decades of success in film and television, Grenier recently opened up about why he quit acting and what he’s doing now, revealing a dramatic shift in lifestyle and priorities.

Grenier officially left Hollywood about a year ago. In a June 2021 cover interview with Austin Life, he explained that despite achieving fame and financial success, the thrill of acting had worn off. “If you work hard, you become famous, then you make a lot of money… but it was lackluster at the top,” he said. He described acting as a slow and dissociative process, noting, “You’re not even you, you’re just playing! …You need a director to tell you if it’s right.” Beyond professional dissatisfaction, Grenier admitted he had been “deep into total abject debauchery” and reached a point where he needed to confront personal challenges he’d been avoiding. He ultimately “Marie Kondo’d” his life, letting go of the Hollywood lifestyle and seeking something more meaningful.

Today, Grenier has found that “something bigger” on a farm outside Austin, Texas. He relocated from New York after buying a home in Austin five years prior, and now feels “totally at peace.” On his farm in Bastrop, he tends the land, digs in the dirt, and engages in environmental work—something he’d been promoting for decades through non-profits but had never fully embraced personally. He earned a permaculture certification and hopes to eventually turn the property into a wildlife sanctuary. Grenier also praises Austin for its down-to-earth, accepting people, mild weather, and great food.

Grenier’s new life is shared with his partner, Jordan Roemmele, who has been linked to him since at least 2017. Together they purchased the land and built their farm life, with Roemmele pursuing studies in acupuncture while supporting Grenier’s vision.

As for Hollywood? Grenier has no desire to return. “I don’t miss anything about that world,” he said. He’s fully embraced his new, grounded lifestyle and leaves the glitz and glamour to younger generations, content to live a life more aligned with his values and passions.
