Dukes Of Hazzard star Catherine Bach, 72, glows as she appears slimmer after emergency hospital visit

Dukes of Hazzard star Catherine Bach stepped out for a rare public appearance in Southern California on Monday, looking radiant and noticeably slimmer following a recent health scare.

The 72-year-old actress wore a red top reading “MOM of Harvard Westlake Wolverines,” likely referencing the Los Angeles preparatory school attended by her daughters, Sophia and Laura. She paired the shirt with black leggings, white sneakers, and a brown Louis Vuitton bucket bag worn crossbody. Bach was spotted shopping at the organic grocery store Erewhon, located at The Shops at Sportsmen’s Lodge in Studio City.

Her outing comes months after she was hospitalized due to an embolism — a blockage in a blood vessel, often caused by a clot that travels through the bloodstream. Representatives for the actress did not comment at the time.

The Dukes of Hazzard, which aired from 1979 to 1985, followed cousins Luke and Bo Duke, played by Tom Wopat and John Schneider, as they repeatedly clashed with corrupt county commissioner Boss Hogg in rural Georgia. Bach played their cousin Daisy Duke, whose signature ultra-short shorts became so iconic they were eventually named after her character and turned into a fashion trend.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1954, Bach made her acting debut in 1973’s The Midnight Man. She reportedly impressed producers so much during her audition for The Dukes of Hazzard that she was cast immediately. Her popularity soared, and a poster of her as Daisy sold five million copies, even attracting attention from First Lady Nancy Reagan.

During the show’s run, she also made headlines for insuring her legs for $1 million, explaining she took risks such as skiing and flying planes, prompting the precaution.

After the series ended, Bach appeared in projects including Street Justice, Driving Force, Masters of Menace, and The Breakup Girl. Her most recent role came in 2015 with Book of Fire. She also launched a jewelry line at Debenhams in 2002 but has largely stayed out of the spotlight in recent years.

Bach married David Shaw in 1976, though they divorced five years later. She later wed entertainment lawyer Peter Lopez in 1990, and the couple welcomed daughters Sophia and Laura. Lopez died in 2010 at age 60 in an apparent suicide.
