Michael Patrick, known for a brief appearance in Game of Thrones, has died at the age of 35 following a prolonged fight with an incurable neurological condition. The Irish performer passed away in hospice care, his wife, Naomi Sheehan, confirmed in a heartfelt Instagram post on April 8. He had been living with Motor Neuron Disease since February 2023 — a progressive illness that attacks the nerves responsible for movement and gradually causes muscles to weaken and fail.
Sheehan shared that Patrick spent his final days at Northern Ireland Hospice, where he was cared for by medical staff after being admitted about 10 days earlier. She said he died peacefully surrounded by loved ones, describing the loss as devastating for the family. Motor Neuron Disease — which includes conditions such as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis — can affect walking, speaking, eating, and breathing, and is considered life-shortening, though symptoms vary from person to person.

In her tribute, Sheehan remembered Patrick as a vibrant and uplifting presence. She wrote that he inspired everyone who crossed his path, not only during his illness but throughout his life. She described him as someone full of joy, energy, and laughter, adding that he lived life to the fullest despite the challenges he faced. She also thanked supporters who stood by them during the past few difficult years and shared a favorite quote he loved about enjoying life’s simple essentials — food, drink, and love.
Patrick had spoken openly about his condition in his final social media post in February, revealing that his neurologist estimated he might have about a year to live. Even then, he expressed determination, writing that he still had plans and much to look forward to.

Beyond his Game of Thrones appearance, Patrick built a varied career in television, including roles in Blue Lights, This Town, and the BBC comedy-drama My Left Nut, which he also co-wrote based on his teenage experiences. He also appeared in Blasts from the Past and The Spectacular, among other projects. His most recent work came in the 2025 German TV film Mordlichtern – Tod auf den Färöer Inseln.
According to his professional biography, Patrick began pursuing acting while studying at the University of Cambridge, where he performed with the renowned Cambridge Footlights. He later trained at the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, continuing to develop the craft that defined his career.
