80s star of Jaws and Halloween franchises who started acting because of Rob Reiner seen at 65… who is he?

An ’80s actor who appeared in two major Hollywood franchises was recently spotted out in sunny Los Angeles, looking almost unrecognizable decades after his big-screen fame. He starred alongside Jamie Lee Curtis in one of the Halloween films and later took on a key role in a sequel from the Jaws series. He also headlined a 1984 sci-fi movie that underperformed at the box office but later developed a loyal cult following.

Now 65, the actor was seen sporting a bushy white beard, dressed casually in a red T-shirt and faded jeans during the outing. The mystery star is Lance Guest, best known for playing Jimmy Lloyd in Halloween II and Martin Brody Jr. in Jaws: The Revenge, the fourth installment of the shark thriller franchise.

Raised in Saratoga, California, Guest first caught the acting bug in high school plays before studying at UCLA, where he earned the Shakespeare Award. He has said that watching Rob Reiner as “Meathead” on All in the Family inspired him to pursue acting as a career, even though he didn’t grow up around the entertainment industry.

His breakthrough came with Halloween II, where he played a hospital orderly who becomes caught up in the chaos surrounding Laurie Strode. He later led the cult sci-fi adventure The Last Starfighter, portraying teenager Alex Rogan, who is recruited to fight in an intergalactic war. Though the film saw modest success at the time, it later became a fan favorite.

In 1987, Guest appeared in Jaws: The Revenge, starring opposite a cast that included Michael Caine. While the film struggled critically and commercially, it marked another major franchise role during the peak of his 1980s career.

Beyond film, Guest built a steady television résumé with appearances on series such as Knots Landing, St. Elsewhere, The X-Files, and House. He also found success on stage, notably portraying Johnny Cash in the Broadway production Million Dollar Quartet, showcasing his versatility long after his early movie stardom.
