Columbo icon Peter Falk’s daughter Jacqueline dead at 60 as heartbreaking cause is revealed

Peter Falk’s daughter Jacqueline Falk has died at the age of 60 in Los Angeles, with officials ruling her death a suicide.

According to reports from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, Jacqueline — known to family and friends as Jackie — died on Monday. Authorities stated she was found after hanging herself at a residence. Further details, including whether a note was left behind, have not been publicly disclosed, and the case remains open.

Jackie was one of two daughters adopted by Falk and his first wife, Alyce Mayo, during their marriage from 1960 to 1976. She was preceded in death by both parents, with Falk passing away in 2011 at age 83 and Mayo in 2016 at 85.

She is survived by her sister, Catherine Falk-Rothchild, who previously became publicly known for her legal and personal battle with Falk’s second wife, Shera Danese, during the actor’s decline with Alzheimer’s disease. Catherine had accused Danese of limiting contact between Falk and his daughters and failing to keep them informed about his health.

Falk became a television legend while raising his family, earning worldwide fame as Lieutenant Columbo in the beloved detective series Columbo. He won four Emmy Awards for the role across the show’s original run and later revival.

Beyond television, Falk was also recognized for acclaimed film performances, including Oscar-nominated roles in Murder, Inc. and Pocketful of Miracles, as well as memorable appearances in The Princess Bride and A Woman Under the Influence.

In earlier interviews, Catherine described a warm childhood shared by Jackie and their family, recalling that even after their parents divorced, Falk and Mayo remained close friends who spent time together with their daughters.
