George Clooney, 65, reveals wife Amal’s ‘dangerous’ birthday surprise

George Clooney has revealed that wife Amal Clooney planned a memorable — and slightly risky — surprise for his 65th birthday celebration in St. Tropez last week.

The Hollywood star shared that Amal organized several unexpected moments during the getaway, including arranging for some of his close friends to secretly pose as waiters before surprising him during the celebration.

While speaking at The King’s Trust 50th Anniversary Celebration in London on Monday, Amal began describing the birthday setup before George jokingly interrupted to explain how the prank unfolded.

According to the actor, the surprise nearly gave him a shock, humorously admitting that springing surprises on someone turning 65 could be “dangerous.” He laughed that the stunt might have “finished” him off, before adding that he was “still standing — barely.”

The longtime couple, who married in 2014, also shared a few playful parenting tips while discussing their twins, Alexander and Ella, who turn nine next month.

Amal said she hopes their children grow up curious, thoughtful, and willing to question things happening around them, while George jokingly offered lighter advice connected to his tequila brand, Casamigos, warning the kids never to “mix grain and grape.”

The birthday celebration came shortly after George opened up about why he and Amal rarely argue. In a recent interview, the actor explained that he no longer feels the need to “win” disagreements or care about small household debates, saying their relationship works because they fully support each other and avoid unnecessary conflict.

The couple recently enjoyed a child-free escape in the South of France, where they were spotted dining with friends at the famous beach club Club 55 before returning to London for the royal charity event.
