Greg Evigan had fans reminiscing this week after the former ’80s television heartthrob was spotted looking remarkably youthful at 72 during an outing in Los Angeles.
The actor, best remembered for starring opposite Paul Reiser in the sitcom My Two Dads, appeared relaxed and energetic as he handled landscaping errands dressed casually in a T-shirt, shorts and a worn baseball cap.
Long before becoming a familiar face on television, Evigan first found success onstage. In the late 1970s, he gained attention portraying Danny Zuko in the Broadway production of Grease after previously performing in Jesus Christ Superstar. He also appeared alongside Marilu Henner in Chicago, sharpening the charismatic bad-boy image that later defined many of his roles.
Evigan’s breakout television role arrived in 1978 when he starred as truck driver Billie Joe “B.J.” McKay in B. J. and the Bear, where his character famously traveled with a chimpanzee companion named Bear. The popular series helped establish him as one of TV’s leading men.
He later appeared with Kirstie Alley in the series Masquerade before taking on darker material in Melrose Place, where he portrayed a villainous doctor opposite Doug Savant.
During the late 1980s, Evigan reached another career high with My Two Dads, which followed two very different men unexpectedly raising a teenage girl together after the death of her mother. The series became a major hit and cemented his popularity with audiences.
Over the years, the actor also explored science fiction with TekWar, appeared on Pacific Palisades and made guest appearances on General Hospital. Film audiences may also recognize him from projects such as Once Upon a Holiday, where he starred alongside his daughter Briana Evigan.
Away from Hollywood, Evigan has enjoyed a stable personal life, remaining married to dancer Pamela C. Serpe since 1979. Together they raised three children, including actresses Briana and Vanessa Lee Evigan, as well as musician Jason Evigan.
