An old nightstand was turned into a stylish and functional pouf: here is the result

The old nightstand stood in our basement for many years 😯 My husband wanted to throw it away, but I suggested repairing it ☺️ We made a stylish and functional pouf from the old nightstand 🥰 This is what we got 👇 👇

The nightstand stood in the basement, covered in dust, among other unnecessary things. At first I wanted to throw it away, but the graceful legs and memories of my parents made me stop.

There was something special about it, something that didn’t allow it to be sent to the dump. My husband, seeing my hesitation, suggested giving the nightstand a new life – turning it into a stylish pouf.

We carefully removed all the handles, doors and shelves. I washed the old glass elements thoroughly to restore their shine.

The husband armed himself with a grinder and began to remove the old varnish and paint.

We then carefully leveled the surface using a sander with a fine-grit disc, giving the nightstand a perfectly smooth finish.

To ensure durability, we applied several coats of primer, allowing each coat to dry thoroughly. Then we coated the surface with black acrylic paint.

We cut a new tabletop out of plywood that fit the exact dimensions of the nightstand. We wanted the seat to be not only beautiful, but also comfortable.

We chose dense foam rubber and created a multi-layer base for comfortable sitting. The largest piece of foam rubber was left with a reserve of 10 cm on each side so that it could be neatly fixed to the back of the tabletop.

We wanted something soft and cozy, so we chose a soft fabric in a noble sky-blue shade that matched the interior.

We stretched the fabric over the foam rubber, carefully fixing it with a construction stapler. To create a sophisticated effect, we added several decorative buttons, creating a “carriage coupler”.

Once all the elements were ready, we connected them together. The new soft seat fell into place, turning the old nightstand into a stylish and functional pouf.

We decided to keep the original handles, slightly updating them to maintain historical authenticity.

The result exceeded all expectations!
