I decided to completely redesign my grandma’s old wardrobe 😯 It took me 5 days, but the result exceeded all expectations 😍 See the before/after photos and see for yourself ⬇️⬇️⬇️

I decided to completely redesign my grandmother’s wardrobe, which was heavy and massive, with many carved patterns that seemed too fragile to touch.
Inside, the cabinet was equipped with makeshift partitions and shelves made of pine wood. The first stage of the work consisted of dismantling all the decorations, which was necessary for a quality restoration process.

After removing the mirror, I was left with an almost empty frame. I also decided to replace the back wall and dismantle the partition inside the cabinet to return it to its original state.
The cleaning process was more difficult than I expected due to the softness of the pine and its resinous nature. The resin often clogged the tool, which was annoying.

However, where there was varnish under the paint, the coating was removed without any problems. In the process of work I found newspapers from 1961, which was a funny find.
After completing the initial cleaning, I began to work more thoroughly on the carvings using scrapers by hand, without the use of chemicals.

This step was necessary because the paint hid the decorative elements. After a few days of work, the carving was completely cleaned, and a beautiful pattern was revealed under the paint.
The next step is sanding. After three days of sanding, the wood became lighter, but in some areas the paint was still deep in the wood. Some of it was removed with a chisel and engraver, but some areas had to be left.

The choice of the protective finish was not easy, as I initially planned to use a dark oil with brown tones, but then decided to keep the natural lightness of the wood.
Once the structure was assembled and all the elements were back in place, I was able to appreciate the final result of my work.

The restoration is complete and now the cabinet looks completely different. I hope you like the result of my work!
