A recent photo of Ariana Grande shared on social media has raised new health concerns among her fans. At the BAFTA Film Awards, where she was signing autographs, the Oscar-nominated star appeared noticeably thinner than usual.
One fan on Reddit expressed concern, saying, “I just hope sheâs okay because I certainly would not be if I were in her shoes and everyone felt so d*** entitled to talk about my body all the time.” Others echoed similar sentiments, with one person writing, “Every time I see a new pic I feel shocked all over again,” and another commenting, “It’s sad to watch it happen.”

The Grammy-winning singer faced constant scrutiny of her appearance during the promo tour for Wicked, in which she starred as Glinda. Experts have warned that a visible sternum and gaunt cheeks in an adult may indicate health issues such as malnutrition, leading some to speculate that Ariana may be struggling with her health.

Malnutrition is linked to a range of health problems, including low energy, loss of muscle mass, poor immunity, and an increased risk of infections. A significant loss of subcutaneous fat can also cause pressure sores and delayed wound healing, both of which can lead to extended hospital stays.

In a previous interview, Ariana shared how she and co-star Cynthia had fallen ill during the Wicked production, and how they continued working despite their health issues. “Weâd worked ourselves to the bone,” Ariana said, expressing gratitude for the rest they got when the actors’ strike halted production in the summer of 2023.
In December, Ariana opened up about the ongoing online discussions surrounding her weight. She said, “Iâve been a specimen in a petri dish since I was 16 or 17. I have heard it all⊠I think in todayâs society, thereâs a comfortability that we shouldnât have at all commenting on othersâ looks, appearance, or health.”

She also revealed that the body people often compare her current figure to was actually the “unhealthiest version” of herself. Ariana explained that she had been struggling with depression, taking antidepressants, and drinking, which can have dangerous interactions. “I was eating poorly and at the lowest point of my life,” she admitted.
Ariana concluded by emphasizing that “healthy can look different” and expressing hope that being open about her experiences might encourage others to embrace their own unique paths to well-being.
