I found an old shoe rack on the street that someone had just thrown away 🤔 I decided to take the rack home with me and repurpose it 🤗 First, I decided to turn the rack upside down and get rid of the legs 😯 A few more hours of work, and I got a cozy kitchen rack for dishes 😱 I’m sharing the result with you via the link in the comments 👇👇

At first I decided to turn the shelf upside down and get rid of the legs – this way the structure looked neater and was suitable for wall mounting.
Then I washed it thoroughly and sanded it lightly – I didn’t see any point in preserving the structure of the plywood, as I wanted a light shade.

To hang it, I found a round stick in the barn, cut it to the required length, and drilled holes of the appropriate diameter in the shelf.
After degreasing, I started painting: I covered the main part with white glossy universal acrylic enamel – it is odorless and does not require a finishing varnish.

I made the former dark inserts contrasting to add coziness and liveliness. I also decided to decorate the shelf with a picture: I found a suitable stencil and carefully traced it with a pencil.

My husband helped with the fastening: he screwed the hangers onto the back so that I could conveniently hang the shelf on the wall. Now my updated kitchen shelf is completely ready!
I placed everything I needed for cooking on it – salt, spices in a basket, hung a towel and a spatula. And there was also a place for small things that should always be at hand: toothpicks, forks, spoons, sugar bowl.

The result is a convenient, stylish and functional kitchen detail. 👌
