It was a shame to throw this chair away, so we repaired it in a short time: this is what we got

This chair had been standing in our parents’ house for a long time, and although it was not in the best condition, it was a pity to throw it away 😱 We decided to give it a second life and took on the restoration 🥰 Just a few hours, and now the chair looks like new 😍😍 We show what we got at the link in the comments ⬇️⬇️

The first thing I did was remove the old upholstery. Then I started removing the old coating from the body.

For this I used a stationery knife blade – on round surfaces, in my opinion, it is most convenient, and it produces much less dust than a grinder.

After that, I additionally went over it manually with a sanding disc to make the surface smoother.

I glued all the poorly held parts together to make the chair stronger. Then I covered the frame in two layers with oil and hard wax, letting each layer dry for 24 hours.

Next came the turn of the soft elements of the chair. For the base, I found a suitable piece of material and cut it to the size of the seat.

I found a piece of half-linen in my supplies, from which I made a new backing and carefully glued it. I left the original belts and springs – they were in good condition.

First, I made a cover from padding polyester for the back of the chair. Then, right on the spot, turning the fabric parts inside out, I basted the cover so that it fit tightly to the back. I stitched the bottom of the cover by hand.

After all this effort, my elegant chair has found a second life. Now it is not only comfortable, but also stylish, perfectly fitting into the interior.
