The owners wanted to get rid of the old nightstand, but I decided to transform it: this is what I got

The owners were going to throw this nightstand away 🤔 When I offered to take it for myself, they were surprised, but agreed 🥰 From an old, unnecessary nightstand, I made modern furniture for the house 😍 I’m showing what I got in the first comment 👇👇

As an interior designer, I am accustomed to seeing potential even in the most inconspicuous things. I once had the chance to visit a house with almost a hundred-year history.

The hosts were hospitable, but their furnishings were in need of an update. Among the many things they were about to throw out, I particularly liked the old, battered nightstand.

When I offered to take it for myself, the owners were surprised, but did not object. So instead of the trash, this rarity went into my car.

My husband, seeing my find, just shook his head. But, knowing me, he quickly left himself to the inevitable.

The first thing I did was sand the wood. Once the old, cracked varnish was removed, a stunning oak massif with a unique texture was revealed underneath.

However, the doors and side parts were made of ordinary plywood, and they clearly needed some work. I decided to add texture and volume so that the nightstand after the transformation would fit organically into a modern interior.

I attached a delicate rattan mesh to the doors, giving them a light and vintage charm. I covered the tabletop with veneer, but left the original oak planks on the sides.

For the back wall, I found some gorgeous floral wallpaper in my stash. To preserve the wood texture, I coated the surface with clear varnish.

The finishing touch was the new metal handles. Their modern, laconic design perfectly complements the overall stylistic solution.

Thus, from a shabby and seemingly useless piece of furniture, a real designer masterpiece was born.

Now the nightstand has taken its rightful place in my home. I placed it next to a cozy yellow armchair.
