The British actress and model has had a long and varied career spanning decades. She now lives in Australia with her husband, who she fell in love with on set. Here’s Rachel Ward today, aged 65.

Born on September 12, 1957 in Cornwall, Oxfordshire, England, Ward attended Heatherop Castle School in Heatherop and later attended Byam Shaw Art School in London. However, she left school at the age of 16 to pursue a career in modeling. Ward became a model in the fashion and photography industry, appearing on the covers of Vogue , Cosmopolitan , and Harper’s & Queen . She gradually made her way into acting after appearing in several commercials. Many years later, in 1995, she earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Communications and a Postgraduate Certificate in Writing from the University of Technology, Sydney, Australia. In 1979, Rachel Ward appeared in her first television film, Christmas Lilies of the Field. She had several small roles in the following years, but in 1983, she became a well-known actress throughout the United States.
In 2001, she was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actress – Miniseries or Television Film for her work in On the Beach. Her other credits include The Big House, Martha’s New Coat, and the television series The Rake, Devil’s Playground, and The Straits. Ward has also branched out into producing and directing. In addition to being an actress, wife, mother, and now grandmother, Ward has also made a contribution to society. To that end, she was awarded the AM Medal (Member of the Order of Australia) in 2005 for “raising awareness of social justice through lobbying, mentoring, and advocacy for disadvantaged and at-risk young people.”
In May 2019, Ward and Brown became grandparents for the first time when their daughter Matilda Brown gave birth to a son, Zan.
