Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s daughter has embraced a new identity. The 19-year-old, who was previously known by her birth name, made a surprise appearance in Los Angeles this week, and fans can’t stop raving about her new name.

She attended a private dinner in Los Angeles on Thursday, May 29, to commemorate Isabel Marant and Net-A-Porter’s fashion collaboration, according to Variety. But she was more than simply a guest.
She choreographed musician Luella’s live performance of her latest single, “Naïve.” Two dancers, Keoni Rose and Tako Suzuko, joined the performance, adding energy and movement to the stage, all coordinated by Jolie and Pitt’s daughter.

A press statement announcing the event not only highlighted her work, but also signaled a significant change. The release referred to her by a different name, eliciting a flood of emotions from fans. While her talent and devotion were lauded, most people focused on one thing: her new, mature persona.

This name change did not occur out of nowhere. In fact, last year, a judicial judgment allowed her to omit the “Pitt” from her surname. She had made the request on her 18th birthday, May 2024, to be known as Shiloh Jolie. Many people interpreted this decision as an indication that she was ready to walk out of her renowned parents’ shadow.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have six children together: Maddox (23), Pax (21), Zahara (20), Shiloh (19), and twins Knox and Vivienne (16). Among them, the 19-year-old is definitely forging her own path, one that combines creativity, freedom, and personal expression. She now goes by Shi Joli.
People on the internet were surprised by the news. “It’s reminiscent of her mother’s relationship with her own father. “So sad,” said one. “She is repeating history via her own estrangement from her own father,” said a third.
