They transformed an old kitchen on a budget

I would never have thought that this old, dark and time-worn room would one day become my favorite corner of the house.

Yet, despite our limited resources, my husband and I were able to breathe new life into our kitchen.

Thanks to hard work, patience and simple but effective ideas, we managed to create a bright, cozy and – most importantly – reflective space.

When I look at photographs from that time, I am still overcome with emotions. It is as if two different worlds were superimposed on each other.

Our example proves that to transform a room, you don’t need a fortune or professionals – desire and ingenuity can work wonders.

It all started the day we received the keys to my husband’s parental home, which he inherited from his grandparents.

The house was full of memories, but had suffered noticeably from time.

Each room told its own story, both of the past and of decay. It was impossible to completely renovate everything at once; it was necessary to choose.

We decided to invest in the most vibrant place in the house – the kitchen. The very room where laughter sounds, where we share moments, where the day begins and ends.

We couldn’t afford a designer, so we came up with everything ourselves.

Gradually, we found affordable but cohesive furniture, chose a kitchen in beige tones, which brought softness and light, and selected appliances wisely: a convenient gas stove, a large corner sink and a roomy white refrigerator.

To save space, we pitched the hood in favor of a wall cabinet above the stove.

The floor is laid with sand-colored tiles – they are easy to maintain and look cozy.

I fell in love with the original chandelier, which now softly illuminates the entire room.

We placed a wooden table with stools against the wall – ideal for everyday meals.

On the other wall there are white shelves where we store jars, plants and small treasures of our everyday life.

Today, this kitchen is not just a place to cook. It is a space of life, warmth and simplicity. Every element is thought out with love – and perhaps this is what makes all the difference.
