You probably recognized the girl in the picture. This is, of course, the wonderful actress Audrey Hepburn. She starred in films that are still a joy to watch.

How did the actress spend her childhood and teenage years?
She was born into a rich and noble family. Her mother was a noblewoman, the daughter of a British baron. And the actress’s father was a major banker.

But when the girl was 6, her parents divorced. This affected her very strongly. Later, as an adult, she often spoke about the stress that divorce of parents causes for children.
After all, children should grow up in a complete family. And when the war began, very hard times came for her family, like for many others.
The city where they lived was occupied. And they were resettled in a small extension of their house. They were glad that they had at least some housing and did not end up on the street.

There was hunger, there was nothing to eat. And Audrey turned from a plump girl into a very thin one. They even made soup from tulip bulbs.
It must be said that these hungry years greatly undermined her health. Audrey graduated from the conservatory. She began to study dancing and ballet. But she was not destined to become a ballerina.

Her emaciated body could not bear such loads. And so she decided to become an actress.
The actress was involved in charity work until the end of her days. She helped starving children all over the world.
