A scandal has erupted in the United States surrounding the popular 20-year-old singer d4vd (David Anthony Burke), after the remains of a girl who went missing a year ago were found in his car while the artist was on tour.
According to international media reports, while the singer was on tour, his Tesla was found abandoned in the Hollywood Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles and impounded. Police soon broke into the car after complaints of a foul odor emanating from it. Plastic bags containing dismembered human remains were found in the trunk. The victim turned out to be Celeste Rivas, who had been missing since April 5, 2024 (she was 13 years old at the time) . She was identified, in part, by a “Shhh… ” tattoo on her finger (the same tattoo d4vd has). During the search for her, her mother told police that Celeste had a boyfriend named David.

The case sparked a public outcry, and the singer’s fans launched their own investigation. It turned out that David had repeatedly described the crime in his songs. For example, one of his biggest hits, “Romantic Homicide,” which, incidentally, premiered on Celeste’s birthday, includes the lyrics: “In the back of my mind, I killed you and I don’t even regret it. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but it’s true, I hate you.” Also in 2023, a leaked song by the artist, named after a girl—Celeste—in which he addressed her in a negative manner, was leaked online.

The artist himself has not yet commented to the press, but has canceled his tour. The Mirror reports that he is cooperating with the police.
Singer-songwriter d4vd rose to fame three years ago. He released hits like “Here with Me” and “Romantic Homicide,” which went viral on TikTok and led to major label deals. His hits charted on the Billboard Hot 100, and he became a favorite of fashion brands: he’s a frequent guest at fashion shows and performed at the Valentino show. Meanwhile, amid the controversy, Crocs and Hollister dropped him from their latest advertising campaigns.
