Kevin Federline, Britney Spears’ ex-husband, has broken his silence with shocking claims in his new memoir, You Thought You Knew. He alleges that during their marriage, their two sons would sometimes wake to find Spears “standing silently in the doorway, watching them sleep… with a knife in her hand.”
Federline, who was married to Spears from 2004 to 2007, shares an unflinching account of his life in the public eye, including the challenges of fatherhood and his tumultuous relationship with the pop star. The couple’s divorce was finalized in 2007, followed by a bitter custody battle, with Federline ultimately receiving primary custody of their sons, Sean Preston (20) and Jayden James (19).

Among the most serious incidents he recounts is a 2008 episode when Spears was placed under a 72-hour psychiatric hold after a standoff at her home over custody issues. Federline describes the night as one of the most harrowing of his life, emphasizing his concern for the mother of his children. Spears, in her 2023 memoir The Woman in Me, framed the incident as an effort to spend more time with her children.
Federline also alleges that Spears exhibited erratic behavior, substance use, and mood swings, including drinking while pregnant and allegedly using cocaine before attempting to breastfeed. Spears has denied any involvement with hard drugs.
The memoir portrays a long decline in Spears’ stability, which Federline says continued even after her conservatorship ended in 2021. While he acknowledges the “Free Britney” movement started with good intentions, he argues it may have inadvertently worsened her situation. He urges a shift from advocacy for freedom to a focus on her survival, citing concern for their children’s safety.
Federline claims their sons expressed feeling unsafe in Spears’ presence, recounting the chilling incidents with Spears allegedly appearing in their rooms at night with a knife. He warns that the situation is growing critical and emphasizes the need for urgent support.
In response, Spears’ team criticized Federline’s memoir, accusing him of profiting from sensationalism and emphasizing that Spears’ priority is the well-being of her children.

As You Thought You Knew nears its release, the tense and complex dynamic between Spears and Federline is once again under the spotlight, leaving fans and the public awaiting the next developments.
