“Too Fat”: Ashton Kutcher Reveals Why He Was Fired by Gucci

Ashton Kutcher, now 47, recently appeared on Entertainment Tonight, where he shared a candid and surprisingly humorous story from the early days of his modeling career—one that involved an abrupt and unforgettable dismissal from one of the world’s most iconic fashion houses.

During the interview, the actor recalled receiving what seemed like a dream opportunity: a collaboration offer from Gucci. At the time, Kutcher was still navigating the fashion world alongside his rising acting career, so he eagerly flew to Italy, expecting the project to be a major step forward. However, things didn’t go quite as planned.

According to Kutcher, the decision came directly from legendary designer Tom Ford, who was serving as Gucci’s creative director at the time. After being assessed, the verdict was blunt and final.

“I probably weighed around 178 pounds,” Kutcher said with a laugh. “And Tom Ford said, ‘He’s too fat.’ And then they fired me.”

The moment, though harsh, has since become a story Kutcher tells with self-awareness and perspective. He emphasized that he doesn’t harbor any resentment toward Ford, acknowledging that the fashion industry operates by its own strict and often unforgiving standards.

“I get it now,” the actor implied, noting that modeling demands a very specific look and body type, especially during that era. With years of experience behind him, Kutcher has clearly made peace with the rejection and can now view it as just another stepping stone on his unconventional path to success.

Despite being turned away from Gucci, Kutcher went on to build a wildly successful career in Hollywood, becoming a household name through roles in That ’70s Show, The Butterfly Effect, Two and a Half Men, and numerous film projects, as well as ventures in tech and entrepreneurship.

In the same period, Kutcher has also been reflecting more openly on his personal life. Recently, he made a rare public comment about his ex-wife, Demi Moore, speaking warmly and respectfully about their past together.

As a reminder, Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore began dating in 2003, quickly becoming one of Hollywood’s most talked-about couples. They married in September 2005, despite a significant age gap that often drew media attention. After six years of marriage, the pair separated in 2011, and their divorce was finalized in 2013.

Though their romantic relationship ended years ago, Kutcher’s recent remarks suggest a place of maturity and mutual respect—much like his attitude toward being fired from Gucci. In both cases, time seems to have brought clarity, growth, and a sense of peace.
