During the interview, the actor recalled receiving what seemed like a dream opportunity: a collaboration offer from Gucci. At the time, Kutcher was still navigating the fashion world alongside his rising acting career, so he eagerly flew to Italy, expecting the project to be a major step forward. However, things didn’t go quite as planned.
According to Kutcher, the decision came directly from legendary designer Tom Ford, who was serving as Gucci’s creative director at the time. After being assessed, the verdict was blunt and final.
“I probably weighed around 178 pounds,” Kutcher said with a laugh. “And Tom Ford said, ‘He’s too fat.’ And then they fired me.”
The moment, though harsh, has since become a story Kutcher tells with self-awareness and perspective. He emphasized that he doesn’t harbor any resentment toward Ford, acknowledging that the fashion industry operates by its own strict and often unforgiving standards.
“I get it now,” the actor implied, noting that modeling demands a very specific look and body type, especially during that era.
