Linda Blair turns 67, looking remarkably youthful over 50 years after The Exorcist

From child star to horror legend and devoted animal-welfare advocate, Linda Blair’s journey since The Exorcist has been far from ordinary.

Celebrating her 67th birthday on January 22, Linda still exudes a youthful glow more than five decades after becoming one of cinema’s most iconic faces.

She rose to fame at just 14 as Regan MacNeil in William Friedkin’s 1973 horror masterpiece, a performance that earned her a Golden Globe and an Academy Award nomination. While the film cemented her place in pop culture, it also brought intense scrutiny and long-lasting challenges.

The demanding role caused a serious on-set injury, and the psychological weight of being so closely tied to such a dark character followed her well into adulthood. Blair has been candid about how the early fame shaped her life, both positively and painfully, arriving before she had the tools to process it.

In the years after The Exorcist, Linda continued acting through the 1970s and 1980s, appearing in films like Airport 1975, Roller Boogie, and Hell Night, alongside numerous TV projects. While she never ran from her famous role, she periodically stepped back from Hollywood to pursue a more purposeful path.

That purpose became animal welfare. In 2004, Linda founded the Linda Blair WorldHeart Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and advocating for abused and neglected animals. Since then, her organization has saved thousands of dogs and remains at the center of her life. She has often said this work brings her far more fulfillment than acting.

“I kind of unknowingly left the business because I gave my word to the animals,” Linda told NBC. “I’m still a performer. I miss working, but I won’t leave my animal friends. Spiritually, emotionally, I can’t stop trying to help and change the laws, stop unnecessary euthanasia, and prevent pet overpopulation.”

Blair, who has never married and has no children, has also been open about her health, revealing a diagnosis of Lyme disease, which she manages through lifestyle changes and advocacy.

At 67, Linda Blair remains a compelling figure. While The Exorcist made her a star, it’s her resilience, advocacy, and refusal to be defined by a single role that continue to define her enduring appeal.
