Amber Heard gave a rare comment on the controversial legal battle with Johnny Depp. The 39-year-old actress, who only recently returned to acting , shared her experience in the documentary “Silenced.” The film examines how libel laws can be used against women who allege abuse. Variety quotes Heard .
“This film isn’t about me. I’ve lost the ability to speak. I’m not here to tell my story. In fact, I don’t want to use my voice anymore. That’s the problem,” the actress said in one scene while talking to director Selina Miles.

In another episode, Amber recounted how, at the very end of her trial, she decided to go public, not yet realizing it would only worsen her situation: “I didn’t realize that for me, as a woman, the situation could get so much worse because I dared to speak out.” She also noted that she is inspired by the stories of other women fighting for their rights: “Women are brave enough to fight against the power imbalance. Looking at my daughter’s face as she grows up and experiences the world, I believe things can get better.”
As a reminder, Johnny Depp and Amber Heard were married for 15 months and divorced in 2016. Two years later, Heard claimed Depp had been verbally abusive and physically violent throughout their relationship, and accused him of substance abuse. Depp denied everything, but that didn’t save him from widespread cancellations: studios began refusing to work with him, one after another. The actor later sued his ex-wife for defamation, demanding $50 million in damages, and Heard countersued for $100 million. The trial lasted six weeks and generated widespread interest worldwide. Ultimately, Johnny won , and public outrage fell on Amber.

Following the scandal, the actress and her daughter, Una, born via surrogacy, moved to Spain and virtually disappeared from public view. In December 2024, she announced her pregnancy, and in the spring, she gave birth to twins —daughter Agnes and son Ocean. The identity of their father remains unknown, but many believe it could be Elon Musk (rumor has it he may also be Una’s father).

Meanwhile, 62-year-old Depp is also gradually returning to film: he will soon play the lead role in the first English-language film adaptation of Mikhail Bulgakov’s novel “The Master and Margarita.”
