“I kissed him everywhere, it was nice”: Margot Robbie reveals intimate details of filming with Jacob Elordi

The 35-year-old Hollywood star has opened up about filming intimate scenes with her co-star Jacob Elordi, revealing that their on-screen chemistry went far beyond what appears in Emily Brontë’s original novel.

Jacob Elordi took on the role of the brooding Heathcliff, while Margot Robbie portrayed the fiercely emotional Catherine Earnshaw in the latest screen adaptation of Wuthering Heights, based on Brontë’s 1847 literary classic. Both actors, who share Australian roots, worked closely to bring the novel’s intense and often destructive love story to life. The film also features a strong supporting cast, including Shazad Latif, Hong Chau, Alison Oliver, Charlotte Melting, and Owen Cooper.

Speaking candidly about the experience, Margot pointed out that the film takes creative liberties compared to the book — particularly when it comes to physical affection. She noted that Brontë’s original story is famously restrained in this area.

“They never kissed in the book,” Margot explained. “But in the film, we kissed a lot. I kissed him everywhere.” She added with a laugh that many of their scenes involved Heathcliff physically lifting Catherine. “Often he’d just pick me up and put me in a tree. And I have to say, it actually feels wonderful — it makes you feel light as a feather, so small.”

The actress also admitted that she hadn’t read Wuthering Heights before filming began, despite its status as one of the most studied novels in English literature. However, once production started, she immersed herself in the text, rereading it multiple times and gaining a deep appreciation for its complexity.

“I kept going back to it while we were filming,” she said. “It’s phenomenal. Every time you read it, you notice something new — something darker, or more tender, or more unsettling.”

Margot acknowledged that the film’s modern interpretation could spark debate among audiences, particularly when it comes to how the male characters are perceived.

“I did wonder whether this film might be controversial,” she told The Sun. “I think a lot of men will leave the cinema, turn to their partners, and ask, ‘Am I Heathcliff or Edgar?’ And honestly, I’m not sure they’ll want to hear the answer.”

Beyond her on-screen work, Margot also made headlines off camera during a recent appearance in London. She turned heads as she arrived wearing a striking corset-style dress, with a semi-sheer design that made her entrance impossible to ignore.

With its heightened passion, bold performances, and reinterpretation of a literary classic, Wuthering Heights looks set to spark conversation — not just about love and obsession, but about how timeless stories are reimagined for modern audiences.
