The girl transformed an old apartment into a stylish and cozy space, inspired by Scandinavian design, while staying within a limited budget.
Project idea
The girl always loved the European style and chose a simple, unrenovated apartment to realize her creative idea.
Her goal was to make minimal changes that would highlight the Scandinavian aesthetic – light, simplicity and functionality.
Renovation work
Floors:
The old linoleum was removed and the wooden floors were filled and painted white. Despite the cracks, it became part of the Scandinavian aesthetic.
Walls and ceilings:
They were painted with water-based paint, aiming to achieve a “Stockholm white” shade. This required manual tinting.
Bathroom:
Here, the tile defects were corrected and the walls were filled. Wallpaper with a geometric pattern was used for emphasis.
Bathroom:
Unlike the light rooms, it is decorated in dark tones, which gives it individuality.
On the balcony, they only removed unnecessary things and added decor in the form of Chinese lamps. Instead of bulky storage systems, the girl used shelves and an attic for seasonal things.
The owner took most of the furniture from her parents’ house, buying only a few additional things. For example, the bed is made from wooden pallets.
The interior was enlivened by posters, the owner’s works and potted plants. Instead of curtains, she chose textiles and garlands, which emphasize the coziness and openness of the Scandinavian style.
A special accent was the mirror with cracks, which unexpectedly fit into the overall concept. In the hallway, the owner turned the curtain rod into a stylish hanger, and the graphite front door added individuality.
