Jelly Roll proudly displayed his remarkable transformation on Thursday, stepping out for a workout in Los Angeles as part of his ongoing health journey.
The 41-year-old country-rap star — born Jason DeFord — was seen jogging through the streets with friends, appearing focused and determined as he stuck to his fitness routine. Dressed in a hoodie, sweatpants, and light blue sneakers, the “Son of a Sinner” hitmaker pushed through the run, at times visibly winded but committed.

The Grammy winner has revealed he’s lost more than 300 pounds in under four years — dropping from over 500 pounds to around 265 — all without the help of weight-loss medications like Ozempic. He’s also shared that he plans to undergo surgery to remove approximately 35 pounds of excess skin following his massive transformation.

Jelly Roll has spoken openly about what sparked the change, explaining that his weight had begun severely impacting his energy levels, hormone balance, and overall health. In 2020, he committed to reshaping his lifestyle, not only physically but mentally, seeking therapy to address food addiction in the same way he once confronted substance struggles.

He has emphasized that he wanted to achieve his results through discipline and sustainable habit changes rather than injections or quick fixes.

During his 2024 Beautifully Broken tour, he revealed he had already shed more than 70 pounds in just a few months. He gradually increased his activity level — starting with walking, progressing to running, and eventually training for a 5K. By the end of that year, he celebrated losing 100 pounds through consistent daily movement, often walking or running two to three miles a day.

Diet changes played a major role as well. He focused on protein-heavy meals to stay full, including creative spins on comfort food like Nashville-style hot chicken prepared in bone broth and high-protein poutine. He’s also credited sauna sessions and cold plunges as part of his wellness routine.
In a recent interview, Jelly Roll shared that the transformation has improved far more than just his physical health. He says he’s become more present as a father and feels a renewed sense of vitality. He’s even joked that he feels “like a teenager again,” noting improvements in his energy and confidence.

His wife, Bunnie Xo — whom he married in 2016 — has been vocal about how proud she is of his progress. Speaking recently, she described watching him embrace life with newfound freedom and joy.
“He was beautiful before,” she said, “but now I catch myself just staring at him. He looks incredible.”

Beyond the numbers on the scale, Jelly Roll’s transformation appears to be about reclaiming his life — and he’s not done yet.
