Actress who played snobby saleswoman in Julia Roberts’ iconic Pretty Woman makes rare outing… can you guess who?

An actress known for one of cinema’s most memorable moments was spotted enjoying a quiet walk with her dog over the weekend.

You might remember her as the haughty Beverly Hills shop clerk in Pretty Woman who refuses to sell clothes to Julia Roberts’ Vivian Ward — leading to the unforgettable line: “Big mistake. Big. Huge!” After Vivian’s makeover and shopping spree, the character quickly regrets turning her away.

Beyond Pretty Woman, this actress has built a diverse Hollywood career with appearances in Melrose Place, Spaceballs, Rock ‘n’ Roll High School, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and more.

If you guessed Dey Young, you’d be correct.

Young has continued acting steadily over the years but took a rare moment to relax on a Sunday morning with her four-legged companion. The pair were seen strolling through Los Angeles, with Young sporting a red zip-up, black accents, coordinating cap, and hiking boots, looking content and carefree.

Though she enjoys these leisurely moments, Young remains busy with two projects in development and decades of experience in front of the camera. Her first credited role was in the 1979 Ramones-inspired film Rock ‘n’ Roll High School, and her extensive credits include Melrose Place, Spaceballs, This Is Us, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, The Mentalist, The Young and the Restless, Murder, She Wrote, The X-Files, Star Trek: The Next Generation, T.J. Hooker, Frankie and Johnny, and Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

Still, she is best remembered for her iconic role as the snobby saleswoman in the 1990 classic Pretty Woman. Young reflected in a 2021 Today interview, “I never knew that this movie would be as big as it was, or that this scene would be so iconic. I really think the reason is that it’s a moment a lot of people can relate to.”

Director Garry Marshall encouraged her to be as sharp and cutting as possible with Roberts, even off camera. While the role led to some typecasting — with studios often calling on her to play similar characters — Young insists she “wouldn’t trade it for anything.”
