The beloved entertainer, who recently turned 100, wed the 54-year-old makeup artist on February 29, 2012 — making their anniversary a leap-year occasion. Over the weekend, the couple celebrated by appearing together on Instagram Live, where Silver captioned the video, “14 year anniversary with my very special guest.”

Chatting with fans while relaxing side by side in bed, Silver excitedly introduced her husband to viewers. Van Dyke jokingly clarified that he wasn’t shorter than usual, but simply lying down, before warmly greeting followers and playfully declaring, “She’s mine!”
During the livestream, he reminisced about how they first met at the 2006 SAG Awards. Sitting alone in the green room, he recalled noticing Silver as she walked in. Struck by her presence, he said he unexpectedly found himself standing up to introduce himself — something he rarely did. The two began talking, and upon learning she was a makeup artist, he hired her on the spot. Their professional connection eventually blossomed into romance.

Van Dyke shares four children — Christian, Barry, Stacy, and Carrie — with his late ex-wife, Margie Willett. In past interviews, he admitted that the demands of building his career sometimes took priority over family life, as he was determined to escape the poverty of his early years. Still, he has said he’s heard no complaints from his children.
He frequently credits Silver with keeping him youthful and upbeat, praising her for bringing joy into his daily life and encouraging him to sing and dance. Calling himself “lucky,” he has said she helps him stay present and positive.

At a recent public event, the screen legend reflected on reaching nearly a century of life, acknowledging the difficulty of outliving many friends, including the late Ed Asner. Despite the losses, Van Dyke maintains an optimistic outlook, saying simply that life has treated him well and he has little to complain about.
