Fans recently caught a rare glimpse of legendary daytime television star Deidre Hall during an outing in Los Angeles, where the famously private actress was spotted running errands.
Now 77, the former model looked cheerful and energetic as she stepped out dressed in a relaxed outfit that included a cozy patchwork sweater and jeans. Smiling warmly as she went about her day, Hall appeared very different from the dramatic and glamorous image many viewers remember from her decades on television.

Hall is best known for portraying Dr. Marlena Evans on the long-running soap opera Days of Our Lives, a role she first took on in 1976. Over the years, the character became one of the most recognizable figures in daytime TV, especially after the show introduced one of its most shocking storylines in the 1990s — when Marlena was possessed by Satan. The supernatural plot twist remains one of the most talked-about moments in soap opera history.

Long before she became a household name in daytime drama, Hall had already built a varied career on television. In the 1970s, she appeared as Electra Woman in the cult children’s series Electra Woman and Dyna Girl, a colorful superhero show created by producers Sid Krofft and Marty Krofft. She also appeared in the early seasons of the popular medical drama Emergency!, where she played Nurse Sally Lewis.
Despite the supernatural nature of some of her scenes on Days of Our Lives, Hall has said she never approached the storyline lightly. In a 2021 interview on The Kelly Clarkson Show, the actress revealed that she developed a small ritual while filming the demonic possession scenes. According to Hall, the show’s executive producer Ken Corday once sent her holy water and a crucifix when the storyline was first introduced.
Since then, she has made it a tradition to bless herself with the holy water before filming scenes involving demonic elements — and she even offered it to her co-stars before shooting such episodes.

The infamous possession storyline first appeared in 1994 when villain Stefano DiMera — played by Joseph Mascolo — attempted to hypnotize Marlena in order to make her fall in love with him. Instead, the plot took a supernatural turn as Marlena became possessed by dark forces, creating some of the most memorable moments in the show’s history.
During the storyline, Marlena exhibited eerie behavior that shocked audiences: she levitated from her bed, her eyes glowed an unnatural yellow, and she caused chaos throughout the fictional town of Salem. In classic soap opera fashion, she interrupted weddings, tied victims to altars, and spread fear among the town’s residents.
The dramatic plot eventually reached its climax in 1995 with an emergency exorcism performed by Marlena’s husband, John Black, who at that time believed he was a priest. The storyline became one of the most famous supernatural arcs ever seen on daytime television.

Outside of the show, Hall has enjoyed a long and successful career. She has won multiple Soap Opera Digest Awards for her work and, in 2016, was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in recognition of her contributions to television.
Off-screen, the actress has also spoken openly about personal challenges, including her experience with infertility. In the 1980s, Hall became an advocate for awareness on the issue after welcoming children through surrogacy, helping to bring attention to the topic at a time when it was rarely discussed publicly.
Even in her seventies, Hall continues to appear on Days of Our Lives, proving that her influence on the world of soap operas remains as strong as ever.
