Lindsay Wagner became a pop culture sensation in the 1970s as Jaime Sommers on The Six Million Dollar Man and its spin-off, The Bionic Woman. Known as both an action heroine and a television icon, she earned widespread acclaim for the role, including an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Dramatic Role, along with Golden Globe nominations and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Now 72, Wagner continues to remain active in the industry after more than five decades in entertainment.

Following the cancellation of The Bionic Woman in 1978, Wagner transitioned smoothly into new opportunities across television and film. She reprised Jaime Sommers in three made-for-TV reunion movies and later appeared alongside Sylvester Stallone in Nighthawks. During the 1980s, she starred in the series Jessie and Peaceable Kingdom. Her career continued through the 1990s and 2000s with roles opposite Denzel Washington in Ricochet, as well as appearances in films such as Thicker than Water, Buckaroo: The Movie, and Four Extraordinary Women. She later joined the sci-fi drama Warehouse 13 as Dr. Vanessa Calder, reprised the character in Alphas, and appeared in Grey’s Anatomy as Dr. Alex Karev’s mother.

Wagner has also spoken candidly about the impact of fame on her life. While she has expressed gratitude for the longevity of her career, she admitted that losing anonymity was one of the most difficult aspects of public life. She described constant attention as challenging, particularly because she considers herself naturally shy, and said balancing personal privacy with professional success took time to navigate.

In addition to traditional acting roles, Wagner explored new formats, including voice and motion-capture performance in the 2018 video game Death Stranding, where she portrayed Bridget Strand. Outside of acting, she has remained busy with teaching and humanitarian work. She served as an adjunct professor of acting and directing and has supported socially conscious film projects, earning a Humanitarian Award in recognition of her advocacy and philanthropic efforts.
