Tina Yothers Played Jennifer on “Family Ties.” See Her Now at 48.

Tina Yothers became a familiar face to ’80s TV audiences as Jennifer Keaton on Family Ties. The sitcom followed the Keaton family and their four children, including Alex, played by Michael J. Fox, Mallory portrayed by Justine Bateman, and youngest sibling Andy, played by Brian Bonsall. Yothers joined the show at just nine years old, playing athletic and outspoken Jennifer, who often shared her parents’ liberal views. Now 48, she has largely stepped away from acting and lives a quieter life outside the spotlight.

Although she was young when Family Ties premiered, Yothers already had experience in the industry. She appeared in The Magical World of Disney TV movie The Cherokee Trail, the series Father Murphy, and the film Shoot the Moon, along with several commercials. After the sitcom ended, she continued acting briefly in TV movies such as Crash Course, Laker Girls, and A Perry Mason Mystery: The Case of the Jealous Jokester. Her final acting credit came in 1996, when she appeared as herself on Married… with Children.

In the late ’90s, Yothers shifted her focus to music, forming a band called Jaded with her brother Cory. She later made occasional television appearances in the 2000s, including on The Weakest Link and the reality series Celebrity Fit Club. In 2012, she appeared on Celebrity Wife Swap, where she traded homes with Niecy Nash, giving viewers a glimpse into her family life. She returned to reality TV again in 2013 with a makeover appearance on What Not to Wear, after which she largely retreated from public view.

Today, Yothers is focused on family life. She is married to electrical contractor Robert Kaiser, and together they have two children, Lilly and Bobby. She is also stepmother to Kaiser’s daughter, Sarah. Though she left Hollywood behind, Yothers has said the entertainment industry was never truly her passion, preferring a more grounded lifestyle. Still, the legacy of Family Ties remains part of her life — and she has shared that her daughter especially enjoys watching the classic sitcom that made her famous.
