Connie Needham Played Elizabeth Bradford on “Eight Is Enough.” See Her Now at 66.

Connie Needham became widely known for playing Elizabeth Bradford on the hit 1970s family drama Eight Is Enough. The ABC dramedy followed a widowed newspaper columnist raising his eight children and ran for five seasons before ending in 1981. Needham was just 18 when the show premiered, portraying the youngest of the five Bradford daughters. Now 61, she has stepped away from acting and built a different career in entertainment in her home state of California.

After Eight Is Enough concluded, Needham continued to appear in television roles, though on a smaller scale. She notably played two separate characters on Fame, which centered on students attending a performing arts high school in New York City. She also made guest appearances on The Love Boat, Police Squad!, L.A. Law, and later appeared in a 1995 episode of Ellen as a waitress. Additionally, she reunited with the cast in two TV movies — Eight Is Enough: A Family Reunion and An Eight Is Enough Wedding.

Although she eventually stepped away from acting, Needham didn’t leave entertainment entirely. A trained dancer, she later worked as a dance instructor in Orange County, California — a natural transition considering some of her post-series roles also involved playing dance teachers. Her passion for performing arts remained central to her life even after her on-screen career slowed down.

Needham also faced a serious personal challenge. In 2009, she was diagnosed with stage three ovarian cancer after experiencing symptoms including bloating and breathing difficulties. She later recalled the shock of hearing the diagnosis and the difficult treatment that followed. After her recovery, she became an advocate for the Women’s Cancer Research Foundation and even participated in a Dancing With the Stars-style fundraiser to support the cause. Today, she has reportedly made a full recovery and continues encouraging others to listen closely to their bodies and not ignore unusual symptoms.

In her personal life, Needham married set designer David Needham in 1979 during the third season of Eight Is Enough. The couple had two daughters, Kimberly and Taylor, before divorcing in 2005. Years later, she spoke about having the support of a loving partner while going through her cancer battle, crediting that encouragement as an important part of her journey.
