Pamela Sue Martin became a familiar face to TV audiences when she played Fallon Carrington on the hit 1980s soap Dynasty. During a decade packed with popular dramas, the Aaron Spelling–produced series rose to the top of the ratings in 1985, captivating viewers with the power struggles between the wealthy Carrington and Colby families. Fallon, the headstrong daughter of oil magnate Blake Carrington, quickly became one of the show’s standout characters, and Martin gained a devoted fan following during her first four seasons. Now 73, she has taken her life and career in a quieter, more behind-the-scenes direction.

Martin launched her acting career shortly after high school in the early 1970s, landing a role in The Poseidon Adventure alongside Gene Hackman and Shelley Winters. A few years later, she became widely recognized for playing Nancy Drew in The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries, appearing in 27 episodes opposite Shaun Cassidy. The role helped establish her as a rising television star before her career reached new heights with Dynasty.

Despite the fame that came with playing Fallon Carrington, Martin later admitted she never fully embraced the spotlight. After leaving her Nancy Drew role, she continued working in projects like The Lady in Red and the TV movie Human Feelings with Billy Crystal. In 1981, she joined Dynasty, but she ultimately chose to exit the show during its fourth season, reportedly frustrated with the direction of the writing and eager to explore other opportunities. She later moved to Idaho, where she focused on raising her son, Nicholas, with her fourth husband, Bruce Allen.

In recent years, Martin has preferred working away from the camera. With her son grown, she has spent more time writing and attending occasional reunions. She has even completed a memoir-style book, explaining that she enjoys creative work behind the scenes more than acting. The shift, she said, was intentional, as writing allows her to stay involved in storytelling without the pressures of public life.

Martin has also remained close with her former Dynasty co-stars. In a 2015 reunion interview, she joined castmates including John James, Al Corley, Pamela Bellwood, and Gordon Thomson to reflect on the show’s most memorable moments. James, who played Fallon’s love interest Jeff Colby, praised their on-screen chemistry, noting that some of his favorite scenes of his career were the ones he shared with Martin.
