Toni Braxton was forced to end her performance early during a stop in Minneapolis after what she described as an “unexpected personal emergency.”

The 58-year-old Grammy winner is currently touring alongside New Edition and Boyz II Men on the New Edition Way Tour, which visited the Target Center on Sunday, March 22. However, Braxton was unable to complete her set, leaving fans surprised when her portion of the show ended prematurely.

The following day, the singer addressed the situation in a message to fans, apologizing for stepping away mid-performance. She explained that a sudden personal emergency left her with no choice but to leave the stage, adding that she wished she could have given the audience her full performance. Braxton also thanked attendees for their understanding and said she could still feel their support.

The tour features rotating mini-sets, with Braxton typically performing around nine songs. It remains unclear which tracks were cut from the Minneapolis show or how much of her performance was ultimately completed before she exited. Representatives for the tour have not publicly commented on the incident.

While Braxton did not disclose details about the emergency, she has previously spoken about the challenges of touring while managing systemic lupus erythematosus. The “Un-Break My Heart” singer has also dealt with serious health concerns in recent years, including emergency heart surgery in 2022. Ahead of a Las Vegas residency in 2024, she admitted she felt some anxiety about returning to the stage but said her doctors cleared her to perform.

Braxton has also emphasized the importance of pacing herself while touring, explaining that she tries to listen to her body and take breaks when needed. The mother of two noted that balancing performances with her health requires discipline, even though she still allows herself occasional indulgences. For now, fans are hoping the sudden interruption was only a temporary setback as the legendary performer continues the tour.
