Lola Young Confirms She’s in ‘Drugs Recovery’ After 2025 Collapse

The award-winning artist collapsed on stage in September. Now she’s speaking out about the traumatic incident.

British artist Lola Young (25) caused great concern when she collapsed on stage during the “All Things Go” festival in New York in September.

The 25-year-old had to be carried off stage and canceled all future planned concerts.

Her manager, Nick Shymansky, explained on Instagram that she had to withdraw “due to a sensitive situation,” and suggested that it could be related to her mental health, something Young has been open about in the past.

Now the artist is opening up about the dramatic incident and says it was due to a battle with drug addiction and mental health problems.

– I’m in drug treatment. When you’re in treatment it doesn’t necessarily have to be about drugs. But for me specifically – yes, she says in a new interview with The Times .

Anonymous meetings

Young will not answer where she was receiving treatment, but says that they took good care of her at the treatment center.

Now she also attends AA meetings .

“There was a lot going on for me personally. I went through a lot of mental health issues and a lot of fighting addiction,” she says.

This is not the first time the British artist has been in rehab. She has previously been open about her cocaine problem, and has also sung about it in her music.

– A lot of hate

Being a famous musician doesn’t necessarily have to be easy. When Young collapsed and had to cancel concerts to focus on treatment, she received a lot of criticism.

“There was a lot of hate, but you know what? It was a decision I had to make. What else was I going to do? Die? That was the reality of where my addiction was going,” she told Rolling Stone .

The scary experience on stage would prove to be a turning point for the 25-year-old. She admits that today she is “very grateful that it happened.”

Earlier this year, Young was nominated for five BRIT Awards and won her first Grammy for Best Pop Solo Performance for her hit song “Messy.” After the win, she revealed that the celebration was planned to be alcohol-free.

Lola Young revealed in 2022 that she was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder at age 17.

The disorder is a mixed condition of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, and is characterized by simultaneous schizophrenia symptoms and affective symptoms, such as mania or depression.
