To onlookers, the pair appeared relaxed and cheerful, seemingly at ease in each other’s company. Garner, 53, walked with a spring in her step, at one point wrapping an arm around Samuel’s shoulders, while Affleck, also 53, kept things casual as they crossed a parking lot together.
Despite their split, the two — who also share Violet, 20, and Fin, 17 — have remained committed to co-parenting and often come together for holidays and family milestones.
On February 28, the Argo director and the Alias star continued their tradition of jointly celebrating Samuel’s birthday, co-hosting a paintball party for his 14th at Combat Paintball Park in Castaic, California. The year before, during his 13th birthday celebration at the same venue, Affleck was even seen sharing a warm hug and laughing with Garner.
Their latest outing follows Garner’s candid comments about raising children across two households. Speaking on Bustle’s One Nightstand YouTube series, she explained that co-parenting requires both parents to step into multiple roles.
She noted that when kids move between homes, each parent naturally takes on both “mom” and “dad” responsibilities, acknowledging that while there’s a sense of loss, there’s also growth and learning that comes with the arrangement.
In a separate interview with Marie Claire UK, Garner described the end of their marriage as difficult, saying the hardest part was the breakup of the family and losing a close partnership and friendship. Still, she emphasized that prioritizing her children never felt like a sacrifice, even when it influenced the roles she accepted in Hollywood.
Garner has been in a long-term relationship with businessman John Miller for seven years, while Affleck’s second marriage to Jennifer Lopez ended in 2024 after two years.
