A man was returning home after a long day at work when his attention was drawn to an old, worn-out suitcase that someone had forgotten by the roadside.
The suitcase itself looked like something discarded, unnecessary. Perhaps someone had simply gotten rid of old things. He walked past without stopping, but literally after a few steps he froze.
There was a sound coming from inside the suitcase.
At first he thought he had imagined it. But the sound was repeated. Faint, barely audible, as if someone inside was moaning or whining quietly. The man turned around abruptly.
With bated breath, he approached, bent down and carefully opened the zipper.
Inside, huddled into a ball, sat a tiny, frightened creature. A small white poodle, covered in dirt, with a dull look that made you want to cry.
The man was shocked. Who could do this to a defenseless animal?
He carefully picked up the dog – it didn’t even resist. At home, the man gave it some water, some food and put it on a blanket.
Later, the man took the dog to a local shelter. The staff were shocked but relieved that the poodle was alive. He appeared to be in good health, except for severe exhaustion and dehydration.
The police have launched an investigation: the suitcase was left near a residential area, but there were no cameras nearby. The culprit has not yet been found, but the case is classified as animal cruelty.
