According to Bloomberg, the sequel earned $233 million worldwide in its opening weekend.
Following the film’s success, its stars announced they were open to discussing a sequel. Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, and Emily Blunt were unanimous in their decision. The actresses are willing to return to filming again under one condition.
“It’s the script,” assured 76-year-old Meryl. “It’s a good script. It’s all about a good script,” added 43-year-old Emily. “And then everyone will say yes. It has to be the four main players,” noted her peer, Anne.
Hathaway was also referring to Stanley Tucci, who is married to Blunt’s sister. “They should all be alive,” Streep joked to People .
Meryl previously spoke frankly about Anne’s condition on the filming of the sequel. Hathaway insisted on removing “scary-thin” models from the set.
