The lengthy legal feud between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni reportedly resulted in staggering legal costs, with attorneys on both sides earning massive fees throughout the highly publicized dispute.
Although Lively ultimately did not receive any financial payout from Baldoni or his production company, Wayfarer, after the case was settled shortly before trial, the legal battle itself is said to have cost both parties a combined $60 million in lawsuits and countersuits.

Baldoni was represented by prominent attorney Bryan Freedman alongside trial lawyer Ellyn Garofalo, while Lively’s team included well-known litigators Michael Gottlieb and Esra Hudson. The dispute stemmed from allegations connected to the filming of It Ends with Us, in which the two starred together.
Despite Lively claiming she suffered hundreds of millions of dollars in career and business losses due to an alleged smear campaign, the final agreement reportedly involved no financial compensation. Court filings from the actress alleged that the controversy surrounding the film harmed her acting opportunities, endorsement deals, and businesses, including her alcohol and haircare brands. Baldoni’s legal team strongly disputed those figures, arguing the claims were exaggerated.

The settlement came only weeks before the case was expected to head to trial in New York. In a joint statement, both sides acknowledged that the production process had been difficult and that concerns raised during filming deserved attention, though neither side issued a formal apology.
The legal drama also involved countersuits filed by Baldoni and Wayfarer against Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, accusing them of defamation and extortion. Many of the claims from both sides were eventually dismissed before the case reached court.

At the center of the controversy were accusations related to conduct during filming, media fallout surrounding the movie’s press tour, and the impact the public dispute allegedly had on both reputations and business ventures.
The settlement officially closes a turbulent chapter surrounding It Ends with Us, the bestselling novel by Colleen Hoover that was adapted into a successful box office film despite the ongoing controversy behind the scenes.
