Thelma & Louise star Geena Davis, 70, makes rare sighting before 35th anniversary of cult classic, see her now

Geena Davis, one of Hollywood’s most celebrated stars of the late 1980s and ’90s, made a rare public appearance this week ahead of the 35th anniversary of her iconic film Thelma & Louise.

The Oscar-winning actress, now 70, appeared on CBS Mornings in New York City on Wednesday to promote her upcoming Netflix sci-fi series The Boroughs, which premieres May 21. Looking elegant in a bright red dress, Davis appeared relaxed and radiant as she discussed her latest project and her longtime love of supernatural stories.

Davis first broke into Hollywood with a small role opposite Dustin Hoffman in Tootsie before rising to fame with performances in The Fly alongside then-partner Jeff Goldblum, as well as Beetlejuice and The Accidental Tourist, which earned her an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.

Her career reached new heights in 1991 with Thelma & Louise, directed by Ridley Scott. Davis starred as the free-spirited Thelma opposite Susan Sarandon, while Brad Pitt famously appeared as a charming drifter. The groundbreaking film became a cultural phenomenon and earned Davis an Oscar nomination for Best Actress.

The beloved classic is set to mark its 35th anniversary on May 24 with tributes at the Cannes Film Festival, special screenings and even a new musical adaptation.

Following the success of Thelma & Louise, Davis starred in A League of Their Own with Tom Hanks and Madonna, later appearing in films including Cutthroat Island and the Stuart Little franchise. She also spent time on television with appearances in Grey’s Anatomy.

In recent years, Davis has largely stepped back from the spotlight to focus on raising her three children — daughter Alizeh and twin sons Kaiis and Kian — whom she shares with ex-husband Reza Jarrahy.

Her new series The Boroughs, produced by The Duffer Brothers, also stars Bill Pullman and Alfred Molina. The sci-fi drama follows residents of a retirement community who unite to battle a mysterious supernatural force threatening to steal what little time they have left.
