The 43-year-old actress and activist posted a series of images on Instagram showing the couple’s sons, Alexander and James, as well as Gere’s eldest son Homer and Silva’s son Albert from her previous marriage.
One touching photo captured the family members forming heart shapes with their hands, while other snapshots showed the boys playing together and enjoying family time.
In the caption, Silva described motherhood as both the hardest and most sacred role in her life. She wrote that being a mother requires women to stay strong when exhausted, gentle when the world feels harsh, patient during overwhelming moments and loving even while still learning themselves.
The mother of three also spoke about the importance of women passing values from one generation to the next. She emphasized that mothers teach love, compassion, courage, respect and kindness not only through words, but also through the way they live their lives.
Silva added that society should recognize the strength of mothers more often, support women more deeply and teach sons to honor women while reminding daughters never to forget their own power.
In the comments section, Gere responded affectionately, expressing his love for both his wife and their children.
Silva and Gere married in April 2018 and share two sons together, Alexander and James.
